Tactical Combinations

A COMBINATION is motifs chained together: a sacrifice opens the door, a check drags the king, a fork collects the furniture. Each link is something you already know — the skill is welding them with FORCING moves (checks, captures, threats) so your opponent never gets a free breath.

Calculation rule for chains: at every link, list your opponent's legal replies. If every reply loses, the weld holds.
