King + Rook vs King: The Full Method

One rook can't mate alone — this is a TEAM technique:

1. The rook cuts the king off behind a fence (rank or file) 2. YOUR king walks up until the kings face off 3. When the kings stand in opposition, the rook checks — pushing the king back a rank 4. Repeat until the edge; the final check is mate

If the king attacks your rook, slide it to the far side of the board — the fence works at any distance.
